Robbie was born in Banbury, Oxfordshire on the 11th July 1924 and died on the 13th of November 2006 aged 82.
He enlisted into the General Service Corps on the 21st of April 1947 for initial training with the 43rd Primary Training Centre and consequently joined the Royal Armoured Corps and trained as a Driver Mechanic.
His first Regiment was the 2nd Royal Tank Regiment where he served for a short while in Germany then with the School of Infantry at Warminster from February 1948 until joining The 4th Hussars in August 1948.
He sailed with the Regiment shortly after on the HMT Dilwara for service in the Far East. Whilst serving with the Regiment he spent some time in RHQ Troop and 2nd Troop ‘D’ Sqn as a Daimler Armoured Car Driver.
Robbie left the Regiment (having completed his colour service) on the 2nd January 1953. Being a man of Oxfordshire he returned to his home town of Banbury and had various jobs, i.e. Bus Conductor, Panel Beater and Pressed Steel Operator. He was also a very keen gardener.
