The Mess possesses two fine oils of the Marquis, Commander of the Cavalry under Wellington at Waterloo.

A particularly attractive full-length portrait is of Anglesey as Colonel of the 7th Hussars, attributed to JB Englehart, however, there is a longer but almost identical version in ‘No 1 London’ at the Wellington Museum in Aspley House. The latter work is attributed to Lawrence.

Anglesey was Colonel from 1801 to 1842. He is depicted wearing amongst other orders, the Garter and the Bath.

The second work is a small oil depicting Anglesey riding through Phoenix Park Dublin.
