On 26th April 1941, LCpl Patrick Fury, 4th Queen’s Own Hussars, 1st Armoured Brigade, was captured in Greece, along with most of his regiment. There are very few recorded accounts of what was endured during those 4 long years of captivity.
Here is some of his story …
In the spring of 1945 The Third Hussars were stationed at Sidon on the Lebanese coast. They had returned from Italy immediately after Christmas, having absorbed a large number of reinforcements to replace those who had been repatriated on what was code-named Python, having served overseas for over four years.
Percy Harratt, nowadays, seems almost totally unknown to anyone, although he had an eventful Second World War, serving with the Special Operations Executive (SOE) …
