It is with regret that we were informed of the death of Tony Curwen, to those who knew him, Tony served the 4th Hussars faithfully and well in most, if not all, Squadrons and in many different capacities.

In the final phases of the Italian Campaign in 1945 he was serving as Second Captain in ‘C’ Squadron.

It was thanks very largely to the efficient way Tony organised the ‘B’ Echelon that the Squadron was able to carry out the daily transportation of the leading New Zealand Infantry Battalion from one river to the next.

It can truly be said that all who knew him counted Tony as one of their loyal and true friends.

To his widow and two young daughters, we offer our deepest and most sincere sympathy.
