Philip died on 21 Apr 87 in London aged 63.

He joined ‘A’ Squadron of the 4th Queen’s Own Hussars in September 1944, when they were concentrated in farms and buildings north of The Ausa.

He took part in the winter campaign and was a popular officer. He was a prominent member of the Mess in Villa Opicina.

He was promoted to Captain in November 1946 and left Active Service in August 1947. He remained on the Reserve until August 1974.

After leaving the Army, Philip decided on a career in insurance and joined The Mercantile & General Insurance Company which specialises in Reinsurance of other Companies, mainly overseas, and this involved him in a considerable amount of foreign travel. He enjoyed his work but was looking forward to his imminent retirement.

Philip always kept in touch with Home Headquarters and was a generous host on the occasions he could entice the Regimental Secretary to lunch.

He found it difficult, because of foreign travel, to attend Reunions or Dinners, but had been hoping to after his imminent retirement.
