Adam died on 12 Oct 1988.

He joined the Inns of Court Regiment about the time of the Munich era. He went to Sandhurst on September 3rd 1939 and passed out amongst the first batch of Officer Cadets.

He was commissioned in January 1940 to the RTR.

He was involved in heavy fighting with the 7th Armoured Brigade in the desert before joining the 8th Hussars in Cairo in October 1942.

He moved with the Regiment to Cyprus in January 1943, and on to England in preparation for the Invasion in December 1943. He served with distinction with them through the Battles in NW Europe.

He left the Regiment to go on the Staff of HQ 7 Armd Div in May 1945 and left the Regular Army in Mar 1946. He then joined the Sharpshooters and remained with them until 1954.

On his return to civilian life in 1946, he joined John Laing, the construction people, becoming Managing Director of Laing Property’s, and was heavily involved in the construction of the Bullring complex in Birmingham.

He used his military skills to good effect in civilian life and was known for his unflagging support for his subordinates.
