Fred Adamson first joined the 4th Queen’s Own Hussars at Aldershot in June 1938 and was posted to ‘C’ Squadron.

In November 1940 he went with the Regiment to the Middle East and whilst serving in Greece was taken Prisoner of War, and interned in Germany until repatriation to England in June 1945.

On return to England, he was released to the Army Reserve until he re-enlisted into the Regular Army and rejoined the 4th Hussars at Hohne in November 1953.

‘Pop’ (as he was known in later years) was a member of MT and RHQ Troops.

He was a keen supporter of the Regimental Boxing and Football teams and contributed to their achievements by assisting in their training and organisations. He was a keen and accomplished darts player.

He continued to serve with the Regiment until 1962 when he returned to the UK from Aden and was subsequently medically discharged in 1963.

He became a Special Constable and was a respected and well-liked member of his section.

‘Pop’ lived in London and frequently supported the Regimental Reunion dinners.

In January 1989 he became a Chelsea Pensioner.
