Henry, who died on 26 December 1992, joined the 4th Queen’s Own Hussars in July 1935 when they were stationed at Aldershot.

He was the goal-keeper in the Regimental football team.

He served with the 4th Hussars in the Middle East from November 1940 until April 1944.

He was with the Regiment throughout the Italian campaign, leaving them in December 1945 for the Yorkshire Hussars.

He left the Army in July 1947.

He lived in Newton Aycliffe and was well known to the members of the 1st Durham Troop.
