James died on 31 December 1990.
He enlisted in May 1944 and joined the Royal Armoured Corps.
He served briefly with the Fife and Forfar Yeomanry in North-West Europe and then the 14th/20th King’s Hussars.
In 1948 he was among the many regulars who joined the 4th Queen’s Own Hussars for their tour in Malaya, where he served from August 1948 to August 1950.
He had 6 months in Hong Kong from August 1950, returning to Malaya in February 1951. He returned home with the Regiment to Tidworth in December 1951.
He left the Regiment in 1952 for release.
