This centrepiece depicts the Marquis of Anglesey, as a General of Light Dragoons at the time of the Battle of Waterloo where he commanded Wellington’s Cavalry and where he was to lose a leg.
Anglesey was Colonel of the 7th Hussars from 1801 until 1842.
