Mick died on 10 July 1987, aged 76.

He joined the 4th Queen’s Own Hussars in February 1931 at York and stayed with them until he took his release in January 1937, when the Regiment was in Colchester.

Shortly after leaving the Regiment, he married Dorothy.

He was recalled in 1939 and re-joined the 4th Queen’s Own Hussars at Tidworth, and moved with them to the Middle East and took part in the Greek Campaign.

He survived to take part in the Desert fighting but was unfortunate enough to be captured on 12 June 1942.

He was taken to a POW Camp in Italy but managed to escape in September 1943, together with several other 4th Hussars, one of whom was John Vincent.

He was then repatriated to the UK where he served with several units, including the Royal Gloucester Hussars and the Royal Wiltshire Yeomanry.

He was finally discharged on 18 January 1946.

Mick, like many others, lost touch for many years but did make contact shortly before he died.
