The 3rd King’s Own Hussars

The 3rd (The King’s Own) Hussars was a cavalry regiment of the British Army, first raised in 1685.

It saw service for three centuries, including the First World War and the Second World War, before being amalgamated with the 7th Queen’s Own Hussars, to form the Queen’s Own Hussars in November 1958.

Policing the Peace, Syria 1945

In the spring of 1945 The Third Hussars were stationed at Sidon on the Lebanese coast. They had returned from Italy immediately after Christmas, having absorbed a large number of reinforcements to replace those who had been repatriated on what was code-named Python, having served overseas for over four years.
