Western Desert 11th December, 1940.

When 2/Lieut Duncan’s tank was knocked out and this Officer was himself wounded, Tpr Cox, the driver of the tank, showed great personal courage and initiative.

Although surrounded by several hundred of the enemy, some of whom were still manning guns and machine guns, and none of whom had been disarmed, he jumped out of his tank, and with his revolver engaged enemy artillerymen who had fired on the tank at short range.

By this action he not only saved his tank from being fired on again by enemy field Guns, but so cowed the enemy in the vicinity, that they gave no further trouble and surrendered.
