7th Queen's Own Hussars, The Victoria Cross (VC)

Cornet William George Hawtrey Bankes (7th Queen’s Own Hussars) Date of Act of Bravery, 19 March 1858.

The British Army’s most senior armoured regiment. Formed in 1993, it has served on several deployments, including the recent conflicts in Afghanistan and Iraq.

Regimental Uniforms: The 1700’s to the 1900’s The forebears of the Queen’s Royal Hussars have undergone many changes in Regimental Title and Uniform since 1685 when The Queen Consort’s Regiment of Dragoons (later The 3rd King’s Own Hussars) was first raised.

We’d love to hear your stories, or experiences, about your time with the serving regiment, or one of our antecedent regiments.

Stories can relate to, but are not limited to:

* your experiences whilst serving;
* family life, home or overseas;
* places you enjoy visiting;
* or, photos of 5 objects that mean something to you and tell the story of who you are.

Your stories will be used as inspiration for future exhibitions, or even feature in the “articles” section.

You can send your entries in a range of formats such as photographs, artwork, drawings, in writing or via a short video.
